Every commitment requires some sacrifice, especially if you want to be successful. The types of sacrifice I am talking about are your pride and your security. In this instance, sacrifice means to give up something for something else you appear to want more.
When you get that new job that you have been striving for, you may have to give up time with your family or commuting longer hours to get to that job.
Time may be a sacrifice; time to go the gym, hang out with friends or even time to be alone with yourself.
When you give up your personal and family time, your safety, your security is affected.
People do not like to think they sacrifice one thing for another; they usually call it a trade-off; you seemingly are willing to trade-off one thing for another.
However, what can occur, is bitterness from a place you never knew existed because you are now out of your comfort zone. You may not have been aware that this is called sacrifice – a strong word – but the results will hit you in the face because you do not know where this pain is coming from.
The pain as a result of your choices to better your life is because you never realized how important it is to do an inventory of your feelings before you make these decisions regarding changes in your life.
Ask yourself how you feel when presented with this new opportunity. Ask your self what must change in your life because of this opportunity. Be aware of your feelings and thoughts. Now you can move on without feeling bitter and afraid.
‘No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.’-Buddha
