Let’s say you have an outline for your Life Vision. Let’s also say you have some clarity about what outcomes you want in your life. Now comes another challenge – how do you focus on how to get what you want?
Once you have your strategy in place, decide to break it down into digestible bites. As small as possible. This way, you will achieve small success rapidly and then be more inclined to stick with your plan.
Once you have your digestible bites, plan on completing them in the morning. Our brain gets tired after working it, so don’t choose to place these bites into the afternoon. The morning is the best time for most people; some people are very good at this late at night.
You are now in the brain muscle-building process, where you retrain your brain to focus on one thing at a time. Ignore any distractions by practicing your focus on these bites which I will call High-Value Activities.
Why High Value? Because this process will support your Life Vision as well as the plan you have in place. Complete no more than 3 High-Value Activities per day. Allocating a specific amount of time to complete these activities allows you to finish the other parts of your work, i. e. responding/deleting emails; returning phone calls, for example.
The best method to use in starting your day is to take a few minutes for quiet time and clear your mind. You need a calm mind for your workday. Take anywhere from five to twenty minutes for some peace. You can breathe deeply as part of this morning strategy; just do whatever it takes to keep you calm. No drama, no email first thing – just peace.
