Did you know we have the right to pursue happiness? I feel it is an obligation to pursue happiness.
The pursuit of happiness is a fundamental right stated in the United States Declaration of Independence: to freely pursue joy and live life in a way that makes you happy, as long as you don’t do anything illegal or violate the rights of others.
We all think we deserve happiness, that if we just wish it, so it shall be. Not true. The main reason is that happiness is not the same for everyone. If this were true, that happiness is a one size fits all, we would be the jolliest people in the world.
Alas, we are not.
First, we need to know and possibly understand what happiness truly is, even if it is different from others’ take on this. Happiness is about gratitude, joy, and contentment.
Gratitude is the Mother of happiness. They are so closely related and this is certainly a great time to be grateful for all the great things in your life.
Gratitude is the parent, Mother, of all other virtues that exist.
A noble person is mindful and thankful of the favors he receives from others – The Buddha
Some people are more willing to feel gratitude about many things to the point where they keep gratitude journals. Other, not so much, yet if you strive to be happy, gratitude is the first step.
To be grateful for your health, at this moment is wonderful.
To be grateful for your business, your associates and the knowledge you will expand to include others is satisfying.
All of these approaches will lead you to happiness in whatever form works best for you.
